A new wave in marine seismic source technology

The last 60 years have seen significant developments in receiver technologies for marine purposes, with a focus on bandwidth extension and preservation of the fidelity of the seismic data acquired.

Our two innovative and environmentally friendly pneumatic sources, now tested and available for acquisition, are presented in this article and their performance discussed:

• The Bluepulse generates signal similar to conventional sources in the seismic bandwidth of interest, but with a significant reduction in high-frequency energy.
• The Tuned Pulse Source extends signal useful bandwidth down to 1.4 Hz, with Source Pressure Level (SPL) more than an order of magnitude below standard sources.
